Peter Witkowski

I am blessed to serve as the senior Pastor of Amissville Baptist Church (ABC) located in Amissville, Virginia.

I grew up mostly in Little Rock, Arkansas with a healthy dose Texas and Michigan influence. I was radically transformed by the grace of God when I was 14 years-old. Shortly after coming to faith,  I felt God calling me into full time ministry while I served on high school mission trips to New Mexico, Mexico, and the Ukraine.

I began serving the local church ministry when I was charged to lead the choir nursery program at the Bible Church of Little Rock’s . I continued to gain valuable ministry experience through a variety of roles:  Assistant Nursery Director, Residential Treatment Counselor, Tutor, Hospital Chaplain, and the Associate Pastor of Preschool and Children’s Pastor at First Baptist Church Eastman. I have also served as a contributor to the Family Research Council Blog.

While serving the body of Christ, I earned two Bachelor of Art Degrees (one in History and one in French) from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and was awarded a Master of Divinity Degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

In October 2012, I married my best friend, April! We have had two sons and two daughters together. Our oldest son died shortly after birth. By God’s grace, our energetic second son and our precious little daughters continue to grow in strength and vitality. All four children are a daily reminder of God’s goodness, faithfulness, and mercy.

In 2013, I launched this blog desiring to encourage others as they live out the gospel. My blogs have been featured on the Family Research Council website and at

As I have transitioned from nursery rooms, to hospital rooms, and to the pulpit, my desire to help others grasp the gospel, through preaching, teaching, and discipleship has deepened. To quote Ephesians 4:11-12, I believe God has called me “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.”

Seeking to enhance my faith and pastoral ability, I earned a counseling certificate from  the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC).  I also began pursuing my PhD. at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in historical theology. I hope to write my dissertation on D. Martin Lloyd-Jones.

At, you cannot help but bump into passion for my family, Cubs baseball, ancient history, and politics. you tube button roundBut my first love remains the Lord Jesus Christ who reveals himself to us through the Scriptures.   I truly believe that only God’s Word can prepare his people “for every good work” (II Tim. 2:16).  I invite you to come explore the Scriptures with me.
